The symposium on Automated Systems and Technologies is intended as the 5th joint symposium organized in cooperation between Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) and Leibniz Universität Hannover (LUH).The partnership of these two universities began in 1984 and was highly valued within the last 30 years. During this time, the mobility of the partnership was supported by the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD). The longterm cooperation is the basis for concentration of resources and efforts in the sphere of education and research. Joint scientific events are the key for intense scientific relationships between Germany and Russia and especially between these two universities. In earlier years, five annual workshops on ઽistributed Intelligent Systems and Technologies" were organized in cooperation with the Control Systems and Technologies Department (CST), SPbPU and the Institute of Transport and Automation Technology (ITA), LUH. They took place between 2009 and 2013 and can be regarded as the pioneer to the Symposium on Automated Systems and Technologies, which firstly was organized in 2014 in Hannover. Since then the symposium takes place annually, changing its location every time from St. Petersburg to Hannover and vice versa. The organization of the joint workshop is part of a long and intensive cooperation between CST and ITA, which also contains Double Degree program "International Mechatronics", the exchange of PhD students and joint research projects. Topically, the symposium covers a wide range of research in automated systems and technologies that include: control, logistics, robotics, mechatronics and laser technologies. The main focus of the symposium is to establish an effective platform for institutions and industry, to share ideas and to present the work of scientists, engineers, educators and students.
