RF communication into metallic components

This article describes a technology enabling metallic components to communicate by radiofrequency waves, which is a key feature for gentelligent components. Gentelligence is a concept to enable the components of a product to feel, react and talk to their surrounding. The realization, integration and packaging of an electronic circuit and a waveguide in the metallic component are presented. Solutions for the filling of the waveguide are illustrated. The wireless transmission of power to the circuit is explained.
