Concept for the optical component of a hybrid waveguide

Description

A hybrid waveguide has been developed to enable part-integrated electronics to communicate with the outside of the part. It shall work both as a cylindrical waveguide for radio frequency data communication at 24 GHz and as an optical waveguide for guiding light to the part-integrated electronics to supply them with energy. In this contribution a concept for the light guiding structure of the hybrid waveguide is presented and its basic functionality is proven by optical simulation.
