As part of a cooperation project with a renowned plastics and rubber processor, an AI-based process control system is being developed for the rubber mixing process. The aim of the project is to intelligently link expert knowledge and machine data in order to make the mixing process more robust and increase quality through data-based process optimisation. In this way, fluctuations in material behaviour can be detected at an early stage and appropriate countermeasures can be initiated automatically. In the long term, the system will help to increase product quality, reduce waste and improve process reliability.
