The use of RFID transponders for challenges in automation technology has gained more and more importance. RFID transponders combine the functionality of bar code systems with the dynamic behavior of random access memories (RAM). RFID systems consist of an RFID reader, at least one reader antenna, a computer to control measurement setup and transponders. The system's performance depends on the transmission rate and environmental influences like reflections or interferences. This paper deals with newly developed RFID transponders working with printed antenna structures. The manufacturing process of the antenna and data-processing infrastructure for creating anti-counterfeit-certificates for pharmaceutical folded boxes will be explained. Transponders' performances will be compared with standardized selfadhesive labels. The project's intention is to develop a new technology for securing pharmaceutical products based on RFID analog to the FDA report 'Combating Counterfeit drugs'.
