Funding:  DFG
Duration:  01.01.2022 - 31.12.2024

Through interdisciplinary collaboration between the natural sciences and engineering, the Einstein-Elevator was built at the Hannover Institute of Technology (HITec) and put into operation in 2019. The Einstein-Elevator is a globally unique, 40-metre-high, third-generation drop tower that makes it possible to conduct experiments under partial weightlessness and various gravitational conditions, such as those found on the moon or mars. The large-scale research facility was set up as part of the former Cluster of Excellence "Centre for Quantum Engineering and Space-Time-Research" (QUEST) under the coordination of the Institute of Transport and Automation Technology (ITA). The aim of the Hannover Center for Microgravity Research funded here is to establish an administrative service and management structure for the Einstein-Elevator. The construction of infrastructure for the use of external experiments in the Einstein-Elevator is also being funded.
