Institute of Transport and Automation Technology

The increase of flexibility, safety and efficiency in processes of production, transport and handling are the main tasks of the Institute of Transport and Automation Technology (ITA). Due to the continuous increase in the requirements for transport and automation processes, the need for holistic solution approaches is growing. These approaches range from decision algorithms and circuit design to applications in intralogistics and manufacturing.

The central and future-oriented challenge, which is faced at ITA in the three working groups Transport Technology, Automation Technology and Optronics, is the question of the integration of decision-capable units into technical systems by networks of sensors, actuators and controllers. Within these tasks, mechanical engineering, electronic and information technology issues frequently have to be solved, whereby the transition between the sub-disciplines is fluid. The ITA thus represents an interface between these disciplines.
